SPAIN, Madrid : On 15 of May people started to camp at the Puerta del Sol Square in Madrid and 58 others Spanish cities, demanding radical changes in politics and protesting against unempolyment, banks, corruption in politics and welfare cuts. The M-15 movement decided to finally dismantle the camp at Puerta del sol Square the 12 of June of 2011.

Hundreds of protesters crammed into each of the sidestreets leading to the central square of Puerta del Sol, birthplace of a nationwide protest against the suffering caused by Spain's economic blight. Lines of riot police crossed their arms and stood in front of the demonstrators, who gathered in swelling numbers in response to Facebook and Twitter pleas for a mass response to their eviction. SPAIN, Madrid : Thousands of "indignant" protesters take part in a demonstration which ended at Puerta del Sol square after it was re-opened to the public, in Madrid, on August 5, 2011. The square had been closed and cordoned off by police and riot police for three days, and "indignant" protesters had organized daily protests in which they tried to access the square. The tension between police and protesters culminated in riot police charging hundreds of demonstrators who had gathered outside the interior ministry on August 4 after trying unsuccesfully to gain access to Madrid's Puerta del Sol square for the third straight day, which resulted in twenty people being injured, including some police officers. A rally against police brutality was held in the afternoon on August 5, before the Puerta Del Sol square was ultimately re-opened in the evening.

The activists were angry over the cost of the World Youth Day celebrations led by the pope, and over police crackdowns on their previous demonstrations.

Organized from the M-15 and reinforced with the summer born of 'Occupy Wall Street' movement, the protest went worldwide with 950 protests taking place in 80 countries. In Madrid tens of thousand of people gathered in Puerta del Sol Square and many more participated taking the streets.
