Revelers cheers as the steward 'Paladin' carrying a banner with the image of Immaculate Conception passes by inside the church during the "La Encamisa" Festival on December 7, 2014 in Torrejoncillo, Extremadura region, Spain. "La Encamisa" is an ancient festival in honor of Immaculate Conception. Hundreds of horsemen wearing a white sheet gather outside the church in the main square. The procession starts when a banner with the image of Immaculate Conception is delivered to the horse rider steward 'Paladin' and people cheer and shoot blanks. There are bonfires along the way where people gather to chat, eat traditional sweets and drink local wine. The origin of this tradition is unknown but it is believed the festival comes from a military event in which people from Torrejoncillo were involved.
